Jamie Wagler
Avon Maitland District School Board Trustee Candidate
Bringing Child Development to Every Board Decision
As a registered Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT), Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE), School Council Chair, college professor, and community advocate, I have dedicated my career to helping children, families, and educators thrive.
I am running for School Board Trustee with the Avon Maitland District School Board because I believe every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe, inclusive and supportive school environment.
Together, we can build strong schools, strong families and a strong future for every learner.
Why I’m Running
Public education changes lives.
Every decision we make should begin with one question: What is in the best interest of students? I believe children should remain at the heart of every conversation, every policy, and every decision.
Throughout my career, I have worked alongside students, families, educators, and community organizations. Those experiences have reinforced my belief that students thrive when schools, families, educators, and communities work together. That is why I am running for School Board Trustee. I believe thoughtful leadership, collaboration, and strong governance can help every learner succeed.
My Commitment to Students, Families, and Our Community
-
Every student deserves to feel safe, valued, and connected.
I will support policies that foster positive school climates, student well-being, belonging, and inclusion so every learner has the opportunity to thrive.
Why This Matters
Students learn best when they feel safe, valued, and connected. Well-being is the foundation for learning, resilience, confidence, and healthy relationships. Every child deserves a school environment where they feel they belong and are supported to reach their full potential.
Every child deserves to feel seen, heard, valued, and supported.
-
Every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and experience success. I believe student success is achieved by creating learning environments that recognize each learner's unique strengths, needs, interests, and ways of learning. By supporting inclusive, flexible, and evidence-informed approaches, we can help every student reach their full potential.
Why This Matters
No two students learn in exactly the same way. Strong public education recognizes and values learner diversity by creating opportunities for students to access learning, demonstrate their understanding, and develop confidence in ways that reflect their individual strengths. When we design learning environments that are responsive and inclusive, every learner has a greater opportunity to succeed.
Every learner deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.
-
Students thrive when schools, families, educators, and communities work together.
I believe trustees should actively listen, build relationships, and encourage meaningful engagement with families and community partners.
Why This Matters
Education is strongest when schools, families, and communities work together. Parents and caregivers know their children best, educators bring professional expertise, and community partners provide valuable opportunities and support. Listening, collaborating, and building strong relationships helps create better outcomes for students
Strong relationships build strong schools.

Trustees are elected to provide thoughtful leadership, not day-to-day management of schools. My role is to listen, ask informed questions, review evidence, and make decisions that support student achievement, well-being, and the long-term success of public education. I am committed to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of public resources while working collaboratively with fellow trustees and board leadership.
Why This Matters
Every board decision has an impact on students, families, educators, and our community. Responsible governance requires careful listening, respectful collaboration, and a willingness to make informed decisions—even when the choices are difficult. I believe the strongest trustees lead with integrity, remain accountable to the public they serve, and ensure every decision reflects the board's responsibility to students.
Every decision should begin with one question: What is in the best interest of students?
Every child deserves to feel seen, heard, valued, and supported.
